RETOUR SUR CHULAK

Teal'c fait un rêve étrange : il assiste à l'implantation d'une larve Goa'uld dans son corps, un enfant du nom de Rya'c. Il se réveille dans la salle d'opération du SGC, où le Dr Fraiser tentait d'enlever son symbiote. Daniel le questionne sur le mot Rya'c, mais il ne répond pas.

En salle de réunion, Janet fait le bilan de sa tentative pour libérer Teal'c de son parasite. Hammond est déçu car il espérait que les scientifiques de Langley auraient une larve à étudier. Teal'c dit alors que cela reste quand même possible, en allant en voler sur Chulak. Mais leur dernière visite sur cette planète n'avait pas été des plus amicales (cf. « Enfants des Dieux »). Hammond interdit de prendre un tel risque.

Jack rejoint Teal'c dans ses quartiers. Ce dernier lui confie alors qu'il n'est préoccupé pour sa propre vie, mais par celle de son fils : Rya'c. Jack tombe dénue en apprenant la nouvelle. Teal'c explique qu'il a caché la vérité de peur de devenir vulnérable. Il explique aussi que dans quelques jours son fils subira la Prim'ta, l'implantation d'une larve Goa'uld en lui. Il dit aussi que sur place, ils auront l'appui de son ancien mentor : maître Bra'tac.

Hammond est informé de la situation par les autres membres de Sg-1, mais il refuse toujours d'autoriser une telle mission. Ils souhaitent en profiter pour remettre en cause le pouvoir des Goa'ulds. Le Colonel et le Général se retirent dans son bureau. Jack lui avoue alors la véritable motivation de Teal'c. Teal'c active alors la Porte, mais le Général Hammond l'en empêche car il en sait trop sur la Terre. Il autorise alors Sg-1 à partir en mission.

Sur Chulak, Sg-1 se fait passer pour des savants de la cour d'Apophis pour franchir la Porte. Une fois dans les bois, ils enlèvent leurs déguisements et se dirigent vers l'ancienne demeure de Teal'c. Sur place, la maison est en cendres. Teal'c tombe à genou quand il voit sur un mur le signe du Shol'va (le traite). Carter essaye de le rassurer sur le sort de sa famille. C'est alors qu'un Jaffa surgit et menace Sg-1 de sa lance : il s'agit de Bra'tac. Il rassure Teal'c sur sa famille. Teal'c fait les présentations. Bra'tac les traite de « ha'shak » (faible) et défie O'Neill. Un petit combat s'engage entre eux. Puis il les amène dans un camp de « kresh'tas » (bannis). Le Colonel ordonne à Sam et Daniel de retourner prés de la Porte et de les y attendre pendant 24 heures avant de partir.

Dans le trajet, Bra'tac questionne Jack sur la Terre.

De leur coté, Samantha et Daniel décident de suivre des prêtres Jaffas au service d'Apophis.

Arrivé au camp, tous les bannis fuient en voyant Teal'c. Il se dirige en courant vers une tente, mais il est trop tard. Son fils a déjà eu l'abdomen déchiré pour accueillir la larve. Le prêtre attaque Teal'c. Quelqu'un se jette sur son dos : il s'agit de sa femme, Drey'auc. Le prêtre est mort par sa propre lame, tout comme la larve. Elle ne comprend pas le geste de Teal'c. Une discussion houleuse s'engage : elle a dit à Rya'c que son père était mort.

De leur coté, Carter et Jackson arrivent à un temple où sont déposées des larves Goa'ulds.

Au camp des bannis, Rya'c est malade, mais il est heureux de retrouver son père. Seuls les pouvoirs du Goa'uld peuvent le sauver. Jack les rejoint. Il prépare un remède pour soulager Rya'c. Ils décident de l'amener sur Terre pour le soigner.

Au temple, Carter et Daniel prennent une larve Goa'uld pour ramener sur Terre. Daniel utilise alors son arme pour détruire les autres larves malgré l'opposition du Capitaine.

Sur le chemin de la Porte, Teal'c s'arrête et pose son fils à terre. Rya'c est alors mal en point. Teal'c décide de lui donner son symbiote pour le sauver.

Alors qu'ils essayent de rejoindre la Porte, Sam et Daniel sont pris sous le feu de l'ennemi. Le combat s'engage, mais il élimine la menace avec une simple grenade.

De son coté, Rya'c récupère grâce à la larve, mais c'est Tea'lc qui se meure. Carter les rejoint et Jack l'informe de la situation. Daniel explique qu'ils ont une larve et expique qu'ils vont lui implanter.

Dans les bois, un groupe de Jaffas sonne l'alerte.

Sg-1, Bra'tac, Drey'auc et Rya'c continuent à progresser dans les bois en direction de la Porte. Rya'c demande à son père de rester avec lui mais Teal'c ne peut pas. Sg-1 fuit accompagné de Bra'tac.

Arrivé devant la Porte, Bra'tac prend les choses en main. Il dit au garde qu'il a capturé les guerriers de la Terre et qu'il veut les amener à Apophis. Mais le prêtre l'empêche de passer et le combat s'engage. Il parvient à les éliminer tous. Daniel compose les coordonnées et Teal'c remercie son ancien mentor et promet de protéger Rya'c.

Janet : Doucement. Là, tout va bien. Il revient à lui.

Teal'c : Le Goa'uld est en moi.

Jack : Il a bien fallu le remettre dans votre corps.

Janet : Sinon, vous alliez mourir. L'anesthésique n'a pas été efficace. J'en suis désolée.

Daniel : Vous avez dit à plusieurs reprise Rya'c. Qu'est ce que ca signifie ?

Teal'c : Ca ne signifie rien

Janet : Dès que nous avons retiré le Goa'uld du corps de Teal'c, ces principaux organes ont cessé de fonctionner et il a eu de la fièvre.

Hammond : Échec des médicaments ?

Janet : Oui, mais cela prouve que le Goa'uld est son système immunitaire. Donc si nous pouvions en apprendre plus à ce sujet et le reproduire, nous sauverions des vies sur la Terre.

Daniel : Et sans pour autant mettre celle de Teal'c en danger.

Hammond : Ce qui veux dire que nos hommes à Langley n'ont aucune chance de regarder de prêt un Goa'uld.

Teal'c : Il y a une autre possibilité.

Sam : Teal'c, pas question. Vous n'avez pas de système immunitaire sans Goa'uld. Je refuse de jouer ainsi avec votre vie.

Teal'c : Il y a plusieurs centaines de larves Goa'ulds sur Chulak.

Hammond : Chulak ?

Jack : Oui, bien sur. Vous plaisantez, non ?

Teal'c : C'est l'un des quelques mondes dans toute la galaxie où il y en a en abondance.

Daniel : Euh pardon Teal'c, rappelez vous la dernière fois que nous y sommes allés …

Jack : On a fait usage de la force pour partir. Donc on a laissé un mauvais souvenir …

Hammond : Il n'en est pas question. Je ne peux pas l'autoriser.

Teal'c : Je n'en parlerai plus dans ce cas.

Hammond : La séance est levé.

Daniel : Qu'est ce qui lui arrive ?

Jack : J'en sais rien. Je vais voir.

 

Jack : Vous permettez que je … ? Oui. Écoutez, excusez moi, je n'ai pas … Vous comprenez pourquoi nous ne pouvons pas retourner sur Chulak, non ? Ils découvriront le remède bien avant que cette chose ne meure dans votre …

Teal'c : Ce n'est pas ma vie qui me préoccupe. Ce qui me préoccupe, c'est la vie de mon fils.

Jack : Votre fils.

Teal'c : Il s'appelle Rya'c. Je ne vous ai jamais parlé de lui, pas plus que de ma femme.

Jack : Vous avez laissé une famille sur Chulak. Teal'c. Vous aviez dit … non, vous avez juré au général que vous n'aviez aucune attache là-bas. Pourquoi nous avoir caché la vérité ?

Teal'c : Un guerrier devient vulnérable lorsque sa famille est gardée en otage par l'ennemi.

Jack : Vous aviez peur de perdre notre confiance. Comment voulez vous qu'on vous fasse confiance maintenant hein ? Vous nous resservez d'autres surprises ?

Teal'c : Avec ou sans votre aide O'Neill, il faut que je retourne sur Chulak.

Jack : Avec ou sans mon aide c'est une entreprise suicidaire.

Teal'c : Dans quelques jours, mon fils sera devenu majeur. Il sera appelé à découvrir quelle religion nous pratiquons. Il devra subir la cérémonie de l'implantation, la Prim'ta. C'est là qu'un jeune homme reçoit son premier symbiote le Goa'uld et devient un véritable Jaffa. Comme tous les Jaffas qui l'ont précédés.

Jack : J'ai l'impression que vous ne voulez pas que ça se produise.

Teal'c : C'est cette façon de procédé qui fait que le Goa'uld asservi le Jaffa. Je ne suis pas le seul parmi les miens à en être persuadé. Mon premier mentor, le maitre Jaffa Bra'tac sait très bien que les Goa'ulds sont de faux Dieux. Mais je ne veux pas … Je ne peux pas permettre que mon fils devienne un esclave.

 

Hammond : Absolument pas.

Sam : Veuillez m'excuser mon général, mais nous avons évalué les risques.

Hammond : Vous les avez évalué ?

Daniel : Oui, et nous sommes tous derrière Teal'c, mon général.

Hammond : C'est ce que je vois. Ce que je ne vois pas, c'est pourquoi.

Sam : Nous pensons qu'il y a plus à gagner au cours de cette mission, qu'une simple larve de Goa'uld.

Hammond : Et quoi donc ?

Daniel : Les guerriers Jaffas sont l'essence même du pouvoir du Goa'uld. Il sert d'une part d'un incubateur pour leurs jeunes et d'autre part d'armée. Une armée pratiquement invulnérable grâce au pouvoir reconstituant de la larve de Goa'uld qu'ils portent en eux. C'est en quelque sorte le marché conclut par Faust.

Jack : Teal'c prétend que d'autres Jaffas souhaitent se libérer du pouvoir du Goa'uld d'au moins, autant que lui.

Sam : Imaginez notre avantage sur le plan stratégique, si nous pouvions ébranler la loyauté de tous ce groupe dont dépend le Goa'uld pour maintenir son pourvoir.

Hammond : Sur combien d'autres Jaffas pouvez vous compter ?

Jack : Nous pouvons être sur d'au moins … un, un seul.

Hammond : Un ?

Daniel : Oui, mais quand il y en a un, ça veut dire qu'il y en a peut être d'autre.

Hammond : Oh, bien sur. Pourquoi pas. Colonel, voulez vous venir un instant dans mon bureau.

Jack : Bien sur.

 

Hammond : Fermez la porte. Asseyez vous Jack. Vous savez, je ne suis pas né de la dernière pluie.

Jack : Oui.

Hammond : Je serai ravi d'avoir une larve de Goa'uld qu'on pourrai étudier dans le laboratoire de Langley, mais je n'ai jamais envoyer mes meilleurs hommes en mission derrière les lignes ennemi à moi d'en sentir l'absolu nécessité.

Jack : Je pense que c'est nécessaire.

Hammond : Pourquoi ? Il y a quelque chose que vous me cachez colonel. Si vous refusez de me dire quelle et le véritable motivation qui préside à cette mission, la mission n'aura pas mon avale. Et vous irez là où je vous dirai d'aller.

Jack : S'il vous plait …

Hammond : Rompez

Jack : Mon général, Teal'c a un fils.

Hammond : Vous pouvez répéter.

Jack : Là-bas, sur Chulak. Son enfant est sur le point de se faire implanter une de ces larves au cours d'une cérémonie. Et Teal'c veut l'empêcher.

Hammond : Pourquoi ?

Jack : Pourquoi , monsieur?

Hammond : Teal'c était un soldat ennemi. Il est compromis.

Jack : Il avait peur que nous n'ayons pas confiance en lui si nous apprenions l'existence de sa famille. Il avait raison ? Lorsque Teal'c nous a sauvés la vie sur Chulak, il a du abandonner sa famille. Vous ne pensez pas qu'on lui doit bien ça ?

 

Jack : Teal'c. Qu'est ce que vous faites ?

Hammond : Éloignez vous du tableau de commande.

Teal'c : Je retourne chercher mon fils.

Hammond : Non, je regrette, je ne peux pas vous laisser faire.

Jack : Je vous en pris Teal'c. N'agissez pas comme ça.

Teal'c : Je ne risque pas d'autre vie que la mienne. Pourquoi ne pas me laisser repartir ?

Hammond : Vous en savez beaucoup trop concernant nos troupes, nos installations, nos défenses. Je ne peux pas laisser de telles informations tomber aux mains de nos ennemis.

Teal'c : Je préférerai mourir plutôt que de relever vos secrets.

Hammond : Mais enfin Teal'c, c'est ce qui risque d'arriver si je vous laisse franchir seul cette porte. C'est pourquoi j'ai bien envie d'autoriser une mission à retourner sur Chulak pour vous permettre de ramener votre fils.

Teal'c : Merci général Hammond.

Hammond : Quand cette cérémonie doit elle se passer ?

Teal'c : Aujourd'hui même.

Sam : Daniel, lunette.

Teal'c : O'Neill. Je suis votre débiteur.

Jack : Oh c'est rien.

Teal'c : Nous reviendrons.

Jack : Prêt pour le départ mon général.

Hammond : A la grâce de Dieu colonel.

 

Sur Chulak

 

Teal'c : Ce sont des érudits de la cour d'Apophis. Je suis chargé de les escorter jusqu'au temple.

Prêtre : Pourquoi nous cachez vous votre visage seigneur ?

Teal'c : Mon casque a été endommagé en combattant. Je dois le faire réparer.

Prêtre : Je peux peut être vous aider ?

Teal'c : Nemec Kree. Tu oses me toucher, prêtre ? Je dirai à Apophis que tu t'es montré vigilant. Il saura t'en récompenser.

 

Teal'c : Nous allons nous rendre à mon ancienne maison. C'est là que devrait avoir lieu la cérémonie.

Jack : Très bien Teal'c. On vous suit.

 

Jack : Teal'c. C'est ça votre …

Teal'c : Oui, mon ancienne maison. Un cadeau d'Apophis pour tant d'année à son service.

Daniel : Que signifie cette marque ? Je ne la reconnais pas.

Teal'c : Ceci était la maison du Shol'va.

Daniel : Le traitre.

Jack : On a l'impression que ça s'est passé il y a longtemps.

Sam : Rien ne prouve que votre femme et vote fis étaient dans la maison à ce moment là.

Jack : Oh mon Dieu, quelle horreur. Teal'c, Carter à raison. Vous ne savez pas vraiment ce qui s'est passé.

Bra'tac : Obi tan! Shreek! Shreek! Shreek!

Teal'c : Bra'tac c'est moi, Teal'c.

Bra'tac : Teal'c.

Teal'c : Je suis heureux de te voir.

Bra'tac : Si j'étais un ennemi. Tu serais mort.

Teal'c : Ma femme et mon fils?

Bra'tac : On m'a dit qu'ils avaient échappé à l'incendie. Je pensais bien que tu allais revenir à temps pour la cérémonie de ton fils. Courageux, mais imprudent.

Teal'c : Si tu t'attendais à mon retour, peut être que d'autre aussi.

Bra'tac : Les autres ne te connaissent pas comme moi. Mais je pensais que tu viendrais plutôt seul.

Teal'c : Ce sont des amis. Colonel O'Neill. Capitaine Carter. Daniel Jackson. Des guerriers aussi habiles que rusés.

Sam : Ah Teal'c. C'est …

Teal'c : Mon premier mentor, Bra'tac. Le plus grand maitre Jaffa que je n'ai jamais vu.

Jack : C'est un honneur de vous rencontrer.

Bra'tac : Vous faisiez partie des guerriers qui ont défait les gardes du palais de Chulak ? Vous n'êtes qu'une femme.

Bra'tac : Vous, vous êtes un guerrier aussi habile que rusé. Je vous casserais comme un fétu de paille. Comment as tu pu venir ici accompagné de ces ha'shaks.

Jack : Hé, hé. C'est moi que vous traitez de ha'shak. C'est quoi un ha'shak ?

Bra'tac : Tu veux me défier ha'shak ?

Bra'tac : Ha ha ha. Tu, tu as toujours su choisir tes amis Teal'c. Toute fois, si j'avais une centaine d'année de moins, ça ne vous aurait pas été aussi facile.

Jack : Vous voulez dire que vous avez plus de cent ans ? Dans ce cas, Excusez moi.

Bra'tac : J'ai 133 ans.

Jack : Vous faites beaucoup plus jeune.

Bra'tac : Personne n'a jamais défié le Goa'uld et vécu assez longtemps pour le raconter. Sur Chulak, on a beaucoup parlé des guerriers venu de la Terre.

Jack : Vraiment ?

Teal'c : Nous ne pouvons pas rester longtemps. Tu peux nous conduire où sont ma femme et mon fils.

Bra'tac : Ta famille est kresh'ta, banni. Les Kresh'tas vivent dans différent campement à l'extérieur de la cité. Je ne sais pas dans quel campement se trouve ta famille.

Teal'c : On va les chercher immédiatement.

Jack : Teal'c …

Teal'c : Je ne quitterai pas Chulak sans avoir revu mon fils.

Jack : Capitaine, j'aimerai que Daniel et vous retourniez à la porte des étoiles. Prenez position dans un endroit d'où vous pourrez nous couvrir. Ca sera peut être nécessaire.

Sam : A vos ordre.

Daniel : Il n'y a pas une minute, on était des guerriers aussi habiles que rusés.

Jack : Attendez nous là-bas pendant 24 heures. Passé ce délais, si nous ne sommes pas revenu, vous devrez partir.

Sam : Très bien, nous vous attendrons. Bonne chance mon colonel.

Teal'c : Si nous sommes découverts, vous serez conduit devant Apophis et traitez comme nous.

Jack : Et bien il suffit de passer le pont et une fois là-bas.

Bra'tac : Non. Ce pont est trop bien gardé.

Jack : Non, en réalité, j'utilisais une métaphore afin …

Teal'c : Kel Shak, mon ami. Ai l'obligeance de nous guider.

Bra'tac : Nous irons au sud. Ces campements sont les plus proches de la cité. Je pense que c'est là qu'est allé ta femme.

Teal'c : Alors je te suis.

Jack : Le sud pourquoi pas.

 

Jack : Hé, Teal'c. Bra'tac doit se sentir un peu fatigué non, si on s'arrêtait quelques …

Bra'tac : Contentez vous de suivre Teal'c et moi nous vous montrons le chemin.

Jack : Non, non, excusez moi, vous devez comprendre que c'est moi qui dirige l'opération.

Bra'tac : La porte des étoiles est très bien surveillé. Vos supercherie ne réussiront pas une seconde fois. Vous aurez besoin de moi pour rester en vie, humain.

Jack : Oui, bon d'accord. Comme vous voudrez.

Bra'tac : Teal'c me dit qu'il n'y a pas de Dieux dans votre monde. C'est difficile à imaginer.

Jack : A non, ce n'est pas un monde sans Dieux. Pour beaucoup de gens il existe un Dieu. Tous ne croient pas au même Dieu, ni de la même façon, mais … . Enfin pour résumé disons que personne ne croit en quelqu'un aux yeux rouge brillant avec un serpent sur la tête.

Bra'tac : Alors, vous ne servez personne ?

Jack : Je sers l'armée, sous les ordres du général Hammond.

Bra'tac : Alors ce Hammond, c'est …

Jack : C'est un homme. Un homme très bon, très chauve, Texan.

 

Sam : Pauvre Teal'c. Ce qu'il a du souffrir de ne jamais pouvoir parler de sa famille.

Daniel : Des prêtres Jaffas. C'est l'emblème d'Apophis.

Sam : Qu'est ce qu'ils transportent ? Vous entendez ?

Daniel : Une cloche.

Sam : Une cloche d'église ?

Daniel : Probablement.

Sam : Tiens, ça fait longtemps que je ne suis pas allée à l'église.

 

Teal'c : Prêtre. Écarte-toi.

Prêtre : Teal'c. Le traitre. Tu oses te montrer ici, shol'va ?

Teal'c : Je n'ai pas l'intention de te faire du mal. Mais je ne te laisserai pas réaliser la Prim'ta sur mon fils.

Femme : Teal'c.

Jack : Alors si je comprend bien ...

Teal'c : Ma femme. Drey'auc.

Drey'auc : Rya'c. J'ai du supplier le prêtre d'accomplir la cérémonie. Ils ont apporté la pierre et la tente pour la Prim'ta de la cité jusqu'au camp. Pourquoi es tu revenu ?

Teal'c : Mon fils ne deviendra pas un esclave, Drey'auc. Il doit connaître la liberté, comme je l'ai fais.

Drey'auc : La liberté Teal'c ? Tu viens de condamné à mort ton fils. Ton hérésie est une abomination, Teal'c. Ceux qui ont été banni m'évite aussi.

Teal'c : L'abomination, c'est que mon peuple soit aussi asservi par le Goa'uld.

Drey'auc : Comment peux tu considérer les Dieux que tu as servis si longtemps comme des ennemis ?

Teal'c : Depuis que ceux de la Terre m'ont ouvert les yeux. La Prim'ta, c'est l'esclavage.

Drey'auc : Tu as vu où je me vois contrainte d'élever ton fils. Est ce mieux que la maison qu'Apophis t'avait accordé pour ta fidélité ?

Teal'c : Ce ne l'est pas.

Drey'auc : Tu nous as abandonnés et tu nous as trahis. Est ce que tu sais ce que j'ai du endurer pour convaincre les prêtres que nous leurs étions toujours loyaux ? Il s'apprêtait à lever le bannissement et à nous permettre de regagner la cité.

Teal'c : Donc tu te préoccupes plus de toi que de notre fils. Je vais lui parler.

Drey'auc : Non, non. Il est persuadé que tu es mort.

Teal'c : Mort?

Drey'auc : C'était plus facile que la vérité.

Teal'c : Qu'est ce que tu lui as dit femme?

Drey'auc : Qu'est ce que tu voulais que je lui dise ? Que son père l'avait abandonné pour d'autre gens qu'il ne connaissait pas. Qui ne sont pas de son sang. Tu peux le lui dire, si tu veux. Tu liras le déshonneur dans ses yeux.

Teal'c : Drey'auc.

Drey'auc : Viens. Porte ton fils jusqu'à ce taudis qui est devenu notre maison.

 

Sam : Si on allait voir ça d'un peu plus près.

 

Teal'c : Rya'c. Rya'c.

Rya'c : Père. J'étais sur qu'il n'était pas mort.

Teal'c : Depuis combien de temps est ce qu'il est malade ?

Drey'auc : Depuis que nous avons été chassés de notre maison. Est ce que tu comprends maintenant ? Sans les pouvoirs de guérisons du Goa'uld, il mourra.

Teal'c : Qu'ai-je donc fait ?

Jack : Comment va-t-il ?

Teal'c : Il va mourir.

Jack : Je ne suis pas médecin, mais je suis capable de reconnaître une scarlatine.

Teal'c : Les médicaments terriens auront de l'effet ?

Jack : J'ai sur moi des vaccins, des antibiotiques. Donnez lui ça.

Drey'auc : Je vous remercie.

Jack : Ca ne suffira pas à le guérir. Il faut des médicaments plus fort que ceux que j'ai sur moi.

Teal'c : Et les médecins qui sont sur Terre?

Jack : Si on parvient à franchir la porte, peut être bien.

 

Daniel : Bingo, des larves de Goa'ulds.

Sam : A l'air libre, comme ça ? Sans surveillance ?

Daniel : Personne sur Chulak n'a besoin d'en voler.

Sam : Nous si.

Daniel : C'est vrai.

Sam : Voilà. On peut y aller.

Daniel : Bon, je suis prêt.

Sam : Très bien. A trois. Un, deux, trois.

Daniel : Bon alors à quatre.

Sam : Quatre. Oh, je déteste, je déteste ce genre de chose. Voilà. Allons-y. Daniel ? A quoi est ce que vous pensez ?

Daniel : Simplement que chacune de ces larves de Goa'ulds va s'emparer un jour d'une vie humaine. Et qu'ils nous suffiraient de …

[A number of alien priests are beginning a ceremony, and a Goa'uld larva is seen in a large glass jar. Teal'c enters, wearing armour and carrying a staff weapon. A young boy, seemingly unconscious, is lying on a bed. The priests uncover a Goa'uld pouch on the boy's stomach. Suddenly, the scene changes to Teal'c lying on the bed. One of the priests is holding the larva, obviously preparing to implant Teal'c.]

PRIEST
Teal'c.
[Teal'c starts to struggle and is held down by the other priests.]

PRIEST
Teal'c.
[The larva is seen entering Teal'c's pouch as Teal'c yells. The little boy is seen walking around the tent, looking around at Teal'c.]

TEAL'C
Rya'c! Rya'c!
INT—SGC INFIRMARY

[Teal'c wakes suddenly, obviously distressed.]

TEAL'C
Rya'c! Rya'c!
[O'Neill, Daniel and Carter are in the observation room, looking down on Teal'c.]

O'NEILL (via a microphone)

[A gowned and masked Doctor Fraiser walks up to Teal'c's bedside.]

DR. FRAISER
Easy! It's okay now.
(To SG-1)
He's coming around.
[Teal'c slowly becomes conscious, while the rest of SG-1 look down on him, very concerned.]

TEAL'C
The goa'uld within me?
O'NEILL (via a microphone)
They had to put Junior back in, Teal'c.
DR.FRAISER
We almost lost you. The drug didn't work, Teal'c. I'm sorry.
DANIEL (via a microphone)
You were calling out something—Rya'c. Does that mean anything?
TEAL'C
It means nothing.

DR. FRAISER
As soon as we removed Teal'c's goa'uld, his major organs began to shut down and he ran a high fever.

DR. FRAISER
Yes. But it proves that the goa'uld is Teal'c's immune system. Now, if we can learn about it and safely duplicate its effect, we can save lives on Earth.
DANIEL
Without killing Teal'c in the process.
HAMMOND
Well, I guess the boys in Langley won't be able to study a goa'uld after all.
TEAL'C
It is still a possibility.
CARTER
Teal'c, you can't. You don't have an immune system without your goa'uld. We can't play with your life like that.
TEAL'C
There are many hundreds of goa'uld larvae on Chulak.
HAMMOND

O'NEILL

TEAL'C
It is one of the few worlds in all the galaxy with such an abundance.
DANIEL

O'NEILL

TEAL'C

[Teal'c rises and walks out of the room.]

HAMMOND
Dismissed.
[Hammond exits to his office. O'Neill, Daniel, Carter and Dr. Fraiser rise.]

DANIEL
What was that?
O'NEILL
I don't know. I'll find out.
[O'Neill leaves the room.]

INT—TEAL'C'S QUARTERS

[A candle is burning. There is knocking at the door. The door opens and O'Neill enters.]

O'NEILL
Mind if I…
[Teal'c is silent, but glances at O'Neill, making O'Neill uncomfortable. Teal'c is sitting cross-legged on the floor, with a semicircle of candles in front of him.]

O'NEILL
Yeah.
[O'Neill enters and shuts the door. Teal'c is staring straight ahead.]

O'NEILL
Look, um, I'm sorry if I didn't…
[O'Neill gestures and pauses.]

O'NEILL
You do understand why we can't go back to Chulak, right?
[Teal'c looks up at O'Neill as O'Neill shrugs.]

O'NEILL
They'll get that drug to work long before that thing dies inside you.
TEAL'C
I am not concerned about my life. I am concerned for the life of my son.
O'NEILL
Your son?
TEAL'C
His name is Rya'c. I have not spoken of him, or of my wife.
[O'Neill looks surprised and sits at Teal'c's desk.]

O'NEILL
You left…a family back there?
[O'Neill places his head in his hands.]

O'NEILL
Teal'c, you told the G…no, you swore to the General you had no ties back there. Why didn't you tell us the truth?
TEAL'C
A warrior becomes vulnerable if his family is held hostage to the enemy.
O'NEILL
You didn't think we'd trust you if we knew. Teal'c, how the hell are we supposed to trust you now? Huh? You got any more surprises?
TEAL'C
With or without you, O'Neill, I must return to Chulak.
O'NEILL
Either way it's suicide, my friend.
TEAL'C
Within days, my son will come of age. He will be called to the religious life of our world. He will undergo the ceremony of implantation. The prim'ta. The day when a young boy receives his first goa'uld symbiote, and becomes a true Jaffa. Just as all other Jaffa before him.
O'NEILL
I take it you don't want that to happen?
TEAL'C
It is the means by which the goa'uld enslave the Jaffa. I am not the only one among my people who believes this. My first teacher, the Jaffa Master Bra'tac, he knew very well the goa'uld are false gods. But I can not…I will not allow my son to become a slave.
INT—BRIEFING ROOM

HAMMOND
Absolutely not.
CARTER
With respect, Sir, we've considered the risks.
HAMMOND

DANIEL
Yes, and we are all behind Teal'c, sir.
HAMMOND
I can see that. What I can't see is why.
CARTER
We believe there's more to be gained from this mission than a single larval Goa'uld.
HAMMOND
Such as?
DANIEL
The warrior Jaffa class are the foundation of Goa'uld power, they serve as both incubators for their young and as their army. An army made almost invulnerable by the restorative powers of the Goa'uld larva they carry. I mean, it's, it's literally a Faustian bargain.
O'NEILL
Teal'c claims there are other Jaffa who believe in freedom from the Goa'uld as much as he does.
CARTER
Imagine the strategic advantage, sir, if we could undermine the loyalty of the very group the Goa'uld depend on to maintain their power.
HAMMOND
How many of these other jaffa can you be sure of?
O'NEILL
We're pretty sure of at least…one guy.
HAMMOND

DANIEL

I'd love to get a Goa'uld larva that the lab coats at Langley can study but I don't order my best people on a mission behind enemy lines unless I think it's absolutely necessary.
O'NEILL
I believe it is Sir.
HAMMOND
Why? There's something you're not telling me Colonel. If you don't want to come clean about the real motivation behind this mission, then fine. The mission is not approved. You will go where I tell you to go.
O'NEILL

HAMMOND

[O'Neill looks through the window to Carter and Daniel and then stands.]

O'NEILL
General, Teal'c has a son.
HAMMOND
What did you say?
O'NEILL
Back on Chulak. His kid's about to be implanted with one of those larva things, at a ceremony and Teal'c wants to stop it.
HAMMOND
Why?
O'NEILL
Why, Sir?
HAMMOND
Teal'c was an enemy soldier. He's compromised.
O'NEILL
General, he was afraid we wouldn't trust him if we knew he had a family back there. Was he right? When Teal'c saved our lives on Chulak, he gave up his family, Sir. Don't you think we owe him something?
[Alarms blare. O'Neill, Daniel, Carter and Hammond run to the control room. Teal'c is in his Serpent Guard uniform dialling the Stargate.]

HAMMOND
Teal'c!
O'NEILL
What are you doing?
HAMMOND
Stand back from the keyboard.
TEAL'C
I am returning to Chulak for my son.
HAMMOND
No. I'm sorry I can't let you do that.
[A couple of SFs appear, guns cocked and pointed at Teal'c. O'Neill steps towards Teal'c as Daniel and Carter look on, concerned.]

O'NEILL
Come on Teal'c, don't do it this way.
TEAL'C
I will risk no one's life but my own. Why will you not let me return?
HAMMOND
You know far too much about this command, this facility, our defences. I can't let that kind of knowledge fall into enemy hands.
TEAL'C
I will die before allowing that to happen.
HAMMOND
Dammit Teal'c, that's just what's going to happen if you go through that Gate alone.
[Teal'c and Hammond stare at each other.]

HAMMOND
Which is why I am inclined to authorise a mission to return to Chulak and allow you to bring your son back.

[Teal'c stops the dialling sequence.]

TEAL'C
Thank you General Hammond.
HAMMOND
When is this ceremony supposed to happen?
TEAL'C
Within the day.
INT—GATE ROOM

[The Stargate engages. SG-1 enter disguised as priests while Teal'c is in a Serpent Guard uniform.]

CARTER
Daniel? The glasses.
[They walk onto the ramp.]

TEAL'C
O'Neill? I am in your debt.
O'NEILL
Ah, it's nothing.
TEAL'C
We shall return.
[Teal'c's helmet closes.]

O'NEILL
Ready to ship out, Sir.
HAMMOND
Godspeed Colonel.
[SG-1 walk through the Gate.]

EXT—CHULAK

[Waiting on the other side are priests and Jaffa. The priests walk up to Teal'c.]

TEAL'C
These are scholars from the court of Apophis. I am to escort them to the temple.
PRIEST #1
Why do you not show your face my lord?
TEAL'C
My helmet was damaged in combat. It must be repaired.
PRIEST #1
Perhaps I can help.
[He reaches towards the helmet but Teal'c grabs his hand.]

TEAL'C
Nemet, kree! You dare touch me priest?
[The priest is on his knees, in obvious pain.]

TEAL'C
I shall tell Apophis of your vigilance, priest. You shall be rewarded.
[Teal'c marches off and SG-1 follow.]

EXT—FOREST ON CHULAK

[SG-1, who are back in uniform, are hiding the robes under some bushes and removing the temporary marks of Apophis from their foreheads.]

TEAL'C
We will go directly to my former home. The ceremony should take place there.
O'NEILL
All right Teal'c, show us the way.
[SG-1 walk down a slope towards a clearing containing a burnt-out building. Teal'c runs up to it as they near.]

O'NEILL
Teal'c, is this your..?
TEAL'C
My former home. A gift from Apophis for many years of service.
[Teal'c walks around to the rear and sinks to his knees, distressed and near tears. A sword/serpent mark has been painted on the side of the building. The rest of SG-1 come up to Teal'c'c position.]

DANIEL
What does this mark mean? I don't recognise this.
TEAL'C
This was the home of shol'va.
DANIEL
(to O'Neill and Carter)
Traitor.
O'NEILL
Well it looks like this happened a long time ago.
CARTER
Teal'c, there's no reason to believe your wife and son were in the house when this happened.
[Teal'c gets up and goes inside, smashing at the burnt wood. He is obviously devastated by what he has seen.]

O'NEILL
Teal'c, Carter's right. You don't know what's happened here.
[A man suddenly appears placing his staff weapon against O'Neill's neck.]

BRA'TAC
Obi tan! Shreek! Shreek! Shreek!
[Teal'c comes outside.]

TEAL'C
Tek matte Bra'tac.
BRA'TAC
Teal'c.
TEAL'C
It is good to see you, friend.
[Teal'c and Bra'tac embrace.]

BRA'TAC
Were I an enemy, you would be dead.
TEAL'C
My wife and son?
BRA'TAC
I am told they escaped the burning. I thought you might return in time for your boy's ceremony, Teal'c. Brave, but unwise.
TEAL'C
If you were awaiting my return, perhaps there are others?
BRA'TAC

(smiling)

[Bra'tac walks to O'Neill but ignores him, going to Carter instead.]

BRA'TAC
You, you are among the warriors who defeated the palace guard at Chulak? A human woman?
CARTER
Hey, I'll have you know I kicked my…
[He moves on to Daniel.]

BRA'TAC
And you? A warrior of great skill and cunning?
[Bra'tac grabs Daniel's wrist, as though to bite it.]

BRA'TAC
I could snap you like kindling! How could you bring these hashack with you?
O`NEILL
Hey! Hey! Hey! Who you calling a hassock?
(turning to Daniel)
What's a hassock?
BRA'TAC
You challenge me hashack?
O'NEILL
Ah, no. I don't think we came to fight you.
BRA'TAC
A shame.
[He turns and swings back to knock O'Neill with his staff weapon. O'Neill grabs the weapon and knocks him on the floor with the staff poised over him.]

O'NEILL
We're here on a mission. If you don't want to be a part of it, just say so.
[Bra'tac laughs.]

BRA'TAC
You choose your friends well Teal'c. Though were I a hundred years younger, it might not have been quite so easy.
O'NEILL
You're over a hundred years old? God, I'm sorry.
[O'Neill reaches down to help him up but Bra'tac grabs him and throws him to the floor.]

BRA'TAC
A hundred and thirty three.
O'NEILL
You must work out.
[Bra'tac reaches to help O'Neill up.]

BRA'TAC
No one has ever defied the Goa'uld and lived to tell of it. There was much talk in Chulak of the warriors of Earth.
O'NEILL
Really?
TEAL'C
Our time here is limited. Can you take us to find my wife and son?
BRA'TAC
Your family is kreshta. Outcasts. The kreshta live in a handful of camps outside the city. I do not know which one your family belongs to.
TEAL'C
Then we should begin now.
O'NEILL
Teal'c?
TEAL'C
I will not leave Chulak without seeing my son.
O'NEILL
Captain, I want you and Daniel to go back to the Stargate, take up positions where you can lay down cover fire. We might need it.
CARTER
Yes, Sir.
DANIEL
Ah, a minute ago we were warriors of great skill and cunning.
O'NEILL
Wait there for us for 24 hours. If we're not back by then, we probably won't be.
CARTER
Yes, Sir. We'll be waiting. Good luck, Sir.
[Daniel and Carter walk away.]

If we are discovered, you will be brought before Apophis along with us.
O'NEILL
Well, we'll just have to cross that bridge when we come to it.
BRA'TAC

O'NEILL

BRA'TAC
We go south. Those camps nearest the city. I believe your wife would go there.

I agree.
[They walk off leaving O'Neill standing.]

O'NEILL

[He follows.]

INT—ROAD THROUGH FOREST ON CHULAK

O'NEILL
Hey Teal'c! Maybe Bra'tac's feeling a little tired, might want to take a little rest…
BRA'TAC
You will follow. Teal'c and I will lead.
O'NEILL
No, no, no. Actually you see, I'm in charge here.
BRA'TAC
The Stargate is well patrolled. Your deceptions will not work a second time. You need my help to stay alive, human.
O'NEILL
Yeah, all right. Whatever, I'm easy.
BRA'TAC
Teal'c tells me your world is without gods. Difficult to imagine.
O'NEILL

EXT—ANOTHER PART OF THE FOREST ON CHULAK

[Carter and Daniel are making their way through the trees.]

CARTER
Poor Teal'c. What he must have gone through keeping quiet about his family.
[Carter stops Daniel quickly and they duck. A procession of priests and priestesses is passing. Two of the priests are carrying a heavy container.]

DANIEL
Jaffa priests. That's Apophis' emblem.
CARTER
What are they carrying?
[Suddenly, a bell tolls.]

CARTER
What's that?
DANIEL
It's a bell.
CARTER
As in a church bell?
DANIEL
Probably.
CARTER
Haven't been to church in a while.
[Daniel and Carter follow the priests.]

INT—ROAD THROUGH FOREST ON CHULAK

[O'Neill, Teal'c and Bra'tac walk to an overhang overlooking the camp. People scream and run into shelters as they see the Jaffa uniforms. Teal'c notices a tent on the far side of the camp. He runs down through the village towards the tent. Inside a priest is holding a glowing hand device over Rya'c's stomach. Teal'c bursts in.]

TEAL'C
Priest! Stand aside!
PRIEST #2
Teal'c. The traitor.
[The priest goes to pick up a knife.]

PRIEST #2
You dare to show yourself, shol'va?
TEAL'C
I have no wish to harm you, priest.
[Teal'c drops his weapon and raises his arms to the side.]

TEAL'C
But I will not allow you to perform the primta on my son.
[The priest attacks Teal'c who fights back. A hooded person enters the tent and jumps on Teal'c's back. Teal'c pushes the priest away, who falls on a table smashing the bowl containing the Goa'uld. Teal'c restrains the other person and removes their hood. It is a woman.]

WOMAN
Teal'c.
[O'Neill and Bra'tac arrive.]

O'NEILL
And this would be?
TEAL'C
My wife. Drey-Auc.
[Drey-Auc gets up and looks over at the priest. O'Neill goes to him and turns him over. He has fallen on his knife and is dead, as is the larva.]

DREY-AUC
(to Teal'c)
I had to beg the priest to perform the ceremony. They bought the tablet and the tent for the primta all the way to camp. Why have you returned?
TEAL'C
My son will not be a slave, Drey-Auc. He will taste freedom. As I have.
[O'Neill lifts the larva from the floor, checking that it is dead.]

DREY-AUC
Freedom Teal'c? You have condemned your son to death.
EXT—FOREST ON CHULAK

[O'Neill and Bra'tac drag the priest away from the tent.]

INT—TENT ON CHULAK

DREY-AUC
Your heresy is an abomination, Teal'c. Even by the outcasts I am shunned.
TEAL'C
The abomination is my people enslaved by the Goa'uld.
DREY-AUC
How can you call the gods that you served for so long, your enemy?
TEAL'C
Since the Earth people opened my eyes. The Primta is slavery.
DREY-AUC
Did you see where I am raising your son? Is this better than the home that Apophis granted you as first prime?
TEAL'C
It is not.
DREY-AUC
You have abandoned and betrayed us. Do you know what I have endured to convince the priests that we are still loyal? They were about to lift the banishment so that we could return to the city!
TEAL'C

[Drey-Auc hits Teal'c.]

I will speak to him.
[Teal'c tries to wake Rya'c as Drey-Auc fights to remove Teal'c's hands from the boy.]

DREY-AUC
No, no. He believes you are dead!
TEAL'C

DREY-AUC
It is easier than the truth.
[Teal'c grabs Drey-Auc.]

TEAL'C
What have you told him, woman?
DREY-AUC

[Teal'c carries Rya'c in his arms.]

EXT—FOREST ROAD LEADING TO LARGE CLEARING

[The priests and priestesses appear at the clearing, followed by Carter and Daniel, who are hiding from them. The procession goes to a small building, where one of the priestesses fills a vessel with liquid from the container and pours it into a tank. They then walk away.]

CARTER
We have to get a closer look.
EXT—OUTSIDER'S CAMP

[Rya'c is lying on a bed in a makeshift tent, coughing.]

TEAL'C
Rya'c? Rya'c?
Rya'c opens his eyes.
RYA'C
Father?
[Teal'c holds his son's hand as Rya'c coughs.]

RYA'C
(to Drey-Auc)
I knew he was not dead.
TEAL'C
How long has the sickness been in him?
DREY-AUC
Since we were driven from our home. Do you understand now? Without the healing powers of the Goa'uld he will die.
TEAL'C
What have I done?
[O'Neill and Bra'tac arrive.]

O'NEILL
How's he doing, Teal'c?
TEAL'C
He is dying.
O'NEILL
I'm no doctor, but I know scarlet fever when I see it.
[O'Neill takes a small envelope from his belt.]

TEAL'C
Can it be treated by your Earth medicines?
O'NEILL
There's some vaccines, antibiotics.
(to Drey-Auc) Come here with the water.
[He pours some powder into the drinking vessel.]

O'NEILL
Give that to him.
DREY-AUC
I thank you.
O'NEILL
It won't cure him, you know. It'll take more powerful drugs than I've got with me.
TEAL'C
What of your Earth doctors?
O'NEILL
If we can get him through the Stargate, maybe.
EXT—SMALL BUIDING IN CLEARING

[Carter and Daniel are having a closer look at the larva in the glass container.]

DANIEL
Bingo. Goa'uld larva.
CARTER
Here in the open like this, no guards?
DANIEL
Well, who on Chulak needs to steal one?
CARTER
We do.
DANIEL
Right.
[Carter passes her MP5 to Daniel and gets out a flask.]

CARTER
Okay, we can do this.
DANIEL
I'm ready.
CARTER
Okay. On three. One, two, three.
[Carter doesn't put her hand in the larva liquid.]

DANIEL
Okay, on four.
CARTER
Four.
[Carter quickly puts her hand in and grabs a Goa'uld larva, pushing it into the flask.]

CARTER
I really, really, really hate these things.
[She puts the flask into the larva liquid, then puts the lid on.]

CARTER
Okay, come on.
[Daniel doesn't follow, but cocks and raises the MP5.]

CARTER
Daniel? What are you thinking?
DANIEL
Just that every single one of these infant Goa'uld's will one day take a human life. And all I have to do is…
CARTER
If we kill them when they are as vulnerable as they are right now, we'd be no better than the Goa'uld. Let's go.
[Carter turns and Daniel follows. He then turns back and fires on the tank. The Goa'uld's spill out, squealing. Carter looks at Daniel, obviously shocked, and takes the MP5 from him. They leave the clearing.]

EXT—FOREST ON CHULAK

[Bra'tac, Drey-Auc, Teal'c and O'Neill move through the forest, with Rya'c in his father's arms.]

DREY-AUC
He is burning.
[They come to a small, clear part of the forest.]

O'NEILL
Carter and Daniel should be here.
[Teal'c puts Rya'c on the ground. Drey-Auc checks on him.]

DREY-AUC
He no longer draws breath, Teal'c.
TEAL'C
Rya'c. Rya'c.
O'NEILL
Teal'c. We should try to make it to the Stargate.
TEAL'C
By then it will be too late. There is another way.
DREY-AUC
No, no, no.
[Teal'c starts to remove his armour.]

O'NEILL
Teal'c, you wanna think about this? You can't live for more than a couple of hours without that thing.
BRA'TAC
It is a father's right.
DREY-AUC
What of you Teal'c?
[Teal'c bends down and opens Rya'c's clothing.]

TEAL'C
I am sorry, my son, that it is I who must do this to you. But I do it to save your life.
[Teal'c's symbiote comes out of his pouch and enters Rya'c.]

TEAL'C
Forgive me, my son. Forgive me.
EXT—ROAD IN FOREST

[Daniel and Carter are walking along. Daniel is eating a chocolate bar.]

DANIEL
Do you think these things need to be fed?
[A staff blast hits a nearby tree.]

CARTER
Go, go!
[The Jaffa chase them and Carter and Daniel take cover behind a large tree. Daniel throws away his chocolate and pulls out a gun. The Jaffa are firing continuously.]

DANIEL
What the hell do we do now?
CARTER
Drop and cover your head. This is going to be close.
[Carter gets up and throws a grenade in the Jaffa's direction. They cover up and it explodes, killing the Jaffa.]

DANIEL
Well, that was insane.
CARTER
Let's get back to the Stargate.
[They leave.]

EXT—SMALL FOREST CLEARING

[Rya'c is lying on the ground, with Teal'c slumped against a tree.]

CARTER
(on radio)
Colonel?
O'NEILL
Keep coming Captain, you're almost here.
BRA'TAC
The Goa'uld within him is strong. He's healing well.
O'NEILL
When will he be strong enough to travel?
TEAL'C
Soon. But by then, O'Neill, I will no longer be. Bra'tac. I would have you hear my will.
[Carter and Daniel walk up.]

O'NEILL
Well, let's just put a little hold on that right now.
CARTER
We'd better get moving, Sir.
O'NEILL
We've got a little problem. Teal'c's kid was too sick to make it to the Stargate so he gave him his own Goa'uld to keep him alive.
DANIEL
Ahh, we have one.
O'NEILL
You what?
DANIEL
We were going to take it back with us but…
[O'Neill grabs Daniel and pushes him over to Teal'c, Bra'tac and Drey-Auc.]

DREY-AUC
Praise the stars, we must hurry.
CARTER
We found what looks like a monastery.
BRA'TAC
You dare steal from the seplica of the temple?
DREY-AUC
It is sacrilege!
O'NEILL
Well, so what! Is it going to help him?
[Daniel hands over the flask to Bra'tac.]

BRA'TAC
It is young. Not yet ready for implantation. But we will try.
[Drey-Auc lowers Teal'c to the ground and Bra'tac places the Goa'uld onto his stomach.]

EXT—FOREST

[Other Jaffa come across the ones killed by Carter's grenade. One of them blows on a horn.]

EXT—THE STARGATE

[The priests and Jaffa at the Gate hear the horn.]

PRIEST #1
(to the Jaffa)

[The Jaffa leave.]

EXT—FOREST

[Teal'c is carrying Rya'c as SG-1, Bra'tac and Drey-Auc move through the forest.]

O'NEILL
How you holding up, Teal'c?
TEAL'C
My body grows strong again.
[The horn blares again.]

BRA'TAC
We have been discovered.
[Rya'c wakes up.]

RYA'C
Father?
TEAL'C
Rya'c.
[Teal'c sits on his haunches, with Rya'c in his arms.]

DREY-AUC
Your father has given you life.
RYA'C
A Goa'uld?
TEAL'C
In a primta. It is all I can give you until I return. Follow the guidance of Bra'tac and your mother. And you will learn to become a great warrior.
RYA'C
Stay.
TEAL'C
I cannot. But the day of my return will come.
RYA'C
When?
TEAL'C
It may be a very long time, my son. But the life of a jaffa is long. I know the day will come when we will stand side by side in battle to free our people from the false gods. Remember, my son, remember.
[Rya'c hugs his father and rises to go to his mother.]

TEAL'C
(to Drey-Auc
Blame me for the priest. Tell them I tried to steal your son away.
DREY-AUC
We will be all right Teal'c. Go.
TEAL'C
My son is fortunate to have such a mother.
DREY-AUC
And his father will never return to free his people if he does not…go now.
[The horns blare again.]

O'NEILL
Teal'c, we got to move.
[SG-1 and Bra'tac leave, but Teal'c stops and turns back to see his wife and son once again.]

EXT—FOREST

[Teal'c holds out his Serpent Guard helmet while the rest of SG-1 find the priest robes which they had hidden earlier.]

O'NEILL
All right, here's the plan.
BRA'TAC
You will do as I say.
O'NEILL
Right.
BRA'TAC
You won't need those.
[He takes the priest robe from Carter and throws it into a bush.]

EXT—CLEARED PATH UPHILL

[SG-1 come to the top of the hill and look down on the Stargate. Teal'c closes his helmet. SG-1 go down the hill following Bra'tac. A Jaffa guard and two priests see them coming.]

BRA'TAC
Behold my friends. The traitors.
PRIEST #1
Halt. Come no further.
BRA'TAC
I am to present my prisoners to Apophis himself.
PRIEST #1
You cannot pass, Bra'tac.
BRA'TAC
You know of me?
PRIEST #1
Of course, Master. You were once the greatest Jaffa warrior of all. But no one may pass until the palace guard arrives.
BRA'TAC
I understand. Then we wait.
[Bra'tac turns and fires his staff at their feet igniting the ground. O'Neill and Carter draw their weapons to help but Teal'c stops them. Bra'tac knocks down the Jaffa and both priests. One priest comes up behind him and he knocks him out again.]

BRA'TAC
Not bad for a man of 133.
O'NEILL
Not bad at all. Daniel?
DANIEL
Yeah.
[Daniel goes to the DHD to dial out.]

CARTER
What will you do? When the priests come to, they'll tell Apophis that you betrayed them.
BRA'TAC
I suppose, I will cross that bridge when I come to it.
[Carter and O'Neill move to the Stargate.]

TEAL'C
I lack the words to thank you, Bra'tac.
BRA'TAC
I thank you, Teal'c. I have another young warrior to teach of new worlds.
[The Gate engages. Bra'tac places his arm on Teal'c's shoulder.]

BRA'TAC
Farewell my friend.
TEAL'C
Farewell.
[Teal'c joins Carter, O'Neill and Daniel on the steps to the Stargate.]

O'NEILL
Ten hut.
[O'Neill and Carter salute and Daniel waves. They then go through the Stargate. Teal'c waits, raises his staff weapon in salute and follows. As Bra'tac walks away, the Gate shuts down.]
